Why choose Scouting? |
- Scouting will get your son away from the television and computer and interacting with other kids
- Scouting will associate your son with responsible adults who will serve as good role models and will not smoke or swear at or around him
- Scouting will take your son into the woods and out on the water to places few outside of Scouting get to go
- You can't get what Scouting offers anywhere but in Scouting
- It's more than fun—it's an Adventure!
- Scouting is GAME with a PURPOSE—to develop future leaders of:
- strong character
- good citizenship
- all-round fitness
- The eight methods used by all good troops make Scouting unique:
- Scouting Ideals (Promise, Law, Motto, Slogan)
- Patrol System
- Advancement
- Outdoor Program
- Adult Role Models
- Leadership Development
- Personal Growth
- Scout Uniform

- The cabin is located off 3rd street in Pavis Park
- From 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm
- No meeting during the weeks of Christmas and New Years
- No meeting during week long events like summer camp
- Sometimes we will meet at places other than the cabin when necessary, you will be informed in advance
- Includes two week long activities during summer
- Every year we go to Owasippe for a week of summer camp
- Every year we spend a week touring a major national city, or going on a high adventure trip
- Has an emphasis on fun
- The boys enjoyment is the first thing we consider when we plan an event
- About a third of every meeting includes a game
- Having fun encourages the boys to continue coming and bringing their friends
- Also includes a lot of learning
- The boys learn to work together to get camp set up, meals cooked, dishes clean, and more
- About half of every meeting is dedicated to learning a merit badge, preparing for a competition campout, or learning the Scout skills needed for advancement
- Some things the boys have learned for merit badges include
- How electricity works
- How airplanes fly
- How to build and launch model rockets
- How to make a stop motion film
- Boys learn leadership by leading, not by watching
- The boys elect their own leadership from within the troop
- These youth leaders are in charge of many aspect of every event
